What to Do...
▪ Identify clearly the subject in which you are interested. Say “I
want to talk to you about the (subject matter).”
Restrict yourself to only one
or two points.▪
Be brief and to the point when talking to any elected
official, because their time - and this is especially true the higher the
office - is often limited. Clear messages will work
best.
What Not to Do...
▪ Don't threaten. Present your
best arguments in favor of your position; be considerate and respectful.
▪
Don't link campaign
contributions to legislative support. |
