The founders of Basics Project believe the more the American public
understands the issues facing our government the more they will be willing to engage the political
process and the process of governing our nation.
The
Basics Project internship program is designed to introduce high school
juniors and seniors to the process of mining primary-source, fact-based
information from all avenues of thought thereby instilling in them not only
the importance of valuing fact-based information and the ability to balance
that information when applying it to our governmental process but the
capacity to identify partisan political rhetoric designed to manipulate the
American citizen.
Basics Project approaches each of its issues by utilizing
first-source/primary-source resources. Interns would be assigned a
particular subject and directed to:
1) Research the history
2) Research the core facts
3) Detail any pending legislation
4) Spotlight congressional testimony
5) Provide relevant and fact-based opinions from:
a) Think Tanks
b) Editorials Boards
c) Credible Advocacy Groups
Interns would also be asked to help with:
▪
Production of any
lectures, debates and/or symposiums
sponsored solely or in-part by Basics Project near their location
▪ Special projects or associated projects sponsored
solely or in-part by Basics Project
▪ The compiling and proofing of Basics Project publications
Basics Project interns telecommute, sending their research
via email, thus eliminating any need for travel and because the internship
is task oriented and the research is cyber-based, there are no "office
hours." Interns work their projects dictating their own hours and their own
pace. Success is judged by the relevance and accuracy of the research. |
